Walter's Old Favorites

These are some of my favorite photos. They are favorites for various reasons. Some of them might have different technical problems (exposure, slight blur, etc) but none-the-less they still remain my favorites. Many were taken with my Fuji S3100. Since Christmas 2006 when my wife bought me a Canon Digital Rebel XTi I've felt set free because of the control this technilogical wonder gives me over various photo elements. Please leave constructive criticism or notes about what you like about my photos using the comments function toward the bottom of the page.

Some experimentation with my new Canon XTi. This leaf is still hung on the fence. It's been there over 3 months now even through 30 MPH+ winds! I told my wife "it will never leaf us or forsake us." :)

  • Where's the snow? That's how I felt Chirstmas 2006 and this photo helped express that feeling. Ah, more of the warm glow of Christmastime. :)

  • I cropped this out of another picture because I thought the composition of this was better than the photo as a whole. Wish I would've seen this composition while shooting.
  • More experimentation with my new Canon XTi. Playing with getting the "silky" water effect at the spillway at Bonneyville Mill.

  • A shot about 1 hour after the train wreck in Goshen in Feb 2007. I like this because of the angles and the worker gives magnitude to the train wreck. Glad I had a 300mm lense for this situation!
  • Another shot about 1 hour after the train wreck in Goshen in Feb 2007. Read what the NIPSCO truck motto says. I like this photo because ot the composition and the moto included on the truck with the train wreck in the background.
  • Another shot about 1 hour after the train wreck in Goshen in Feb 2007. I like the perspective on this with the "ROAD CLOSED" sign in the forground, then emergency workers, then the train wreck.

  • Not sure what it is that make me like this one. I just find it visually appealing for some reason.
  • I like the way the temporary tracks point to the derailed train in the background and the shadow-play.
